Welcome to the first blog post of BCD Tutoring, English Language and Literature tutor!

When I started BCD Tutoring, I knew I wanted to create a space where learners could engage with English language and literature in a meaningful way. Not everyone can manage the confines and environment of a classroom, and I wanted to offer support to those who wanted more.

So, whether you're a student eager to improve your writing skills, a literature lover searching for deeper insights, or simply someone who wants to explore the beauty of the English language, you're in the right place.

Who Am I?

I'm Beth, and English has been one of my favourite subjects for as long as I can remember. From year 8 to year 13, I was lucky enough to have an English teacher who saw the passion I had for English and did everything she could to support and push me through GCSE and A-Level. Because of her, I studied English Literature in university and graduated in 2022 with a Master’s in English Literature. It is also because of the compassion she showed that I am determined to give other students the same experience, and am committed to guiding them through the intricate world of language and literature. My goal is to help you not only succeed academically but also develop a lifelong love for the subject.

What to Expect from This Blog

While it may take me a while to work out the intricacies of blogging, my aims in creating this space are clear:

1. To Provide Support: My goal is to offer practical advice and tips that will assist you in overcoming various writing challenges, whether you're working on academic essays, creative projects, or everyday communication. By addressing common difficulties and sharing effective strategies, I aim to build your confidence and help you excel.

2. To Improve Literature Analysis: For those who are looking for literature support, our sessions will explore various genres and uncovering key themes and literary techniques. We’ll both gain a deeper appreciation for what makes literature both captivating and enduring.

3. To Enhance Language Skills: While sessions will hold a clear focus on topics that you feel require deeper study, our sessions will underpin the essentials such as grammar, vocabulary, and effective communication. The aim is to help you improve your language proficiency in an engaging and accessible manner.

4. To Share Effective Study Strategies: Everyone learns differently! There are several ways to learn, and whether you learn best through reading and writing, auditory or visual, I’ll provide strategies and insights to help you approach your English assignments and exams with a clear and organized mindset.

5. To Offer Book Recommendations: One of the best ways to increase your skills and confidence is to read! Reading can expose you to new vocabulary and help to improve your grasp of language. If interested, I can guide you with recommendations that I feel will help you to boost both your capabilities and confidence.
